All You Need To Know About The 2024 British Fashion Awards

The 2024 British Fashion Awards was nothing short of spectacular celebrating the best and brightest talents in the world of fashion. Hosted at London’s iconic Royal Albert Hall, the night was pure magic. With Maya Jama and Kojey Radical as the evening’s charismatic hosts, it was a combination of red-carpet glamour, heartfelt speeches, and unforgettable performances.

The red carpet was a runway of its own, featuring some of the most talked-about looks of the season. Christopher Kane’s Self-Portrait collection had a moment, with stars like Gemma Chan and Lara Stone showing it off to perfection. Model Ashley Graham gave us a taste of Blumarine’s bold new direction under creative director David Koma.

Alexa Chung brought festive sparkle in an outfit straight out of every girl’s Christmas party dreams, thanks to Miu Miu. Meanwhile, Model of the Year Alex Consani stole the spotlight in a Dilara Fındıkoğlu dress inspired by the Union Jack—a nod to London’s rich fashion heritage. And just when it seemed like the red carpet couldn’t get any better, Rihanna shut it down, arriving on ASAP Rocky’s arm in vintage Christian Lacroix teal fuzz from autumn/winter 2002, complete with a hat that was a statement all on its own.

Inside the venue, the atmosphere was electric. Jonathan Anderson for JW Anderson & Loewe took home the biggest prize of the night, Designer of the Year, cementing his legacy as one of fashion’s most innovative minds. Alex Consani, whose career has skyrocketed this year, was named Model of the Year. A$AP Rocky was honoured with the Cultural Innovator Award, celebrating his influence in shaping global culture through music and fashion.

Simone Rocha received the British Womenswear Designer of the Year award, and her acceptance speech struck a chord with the audience as she used her moment to make a passionate call for justice and unity. “Free Palestine,” she said, echoing the powerful words of Nan Goldin, who was also honoured with the Special Recognition Award alongside Gucci for their impactful “We Will Always Have London” campaign. It was a night of touching moments, once again showing that fashion isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s also about making an impact

Tom Ford was presented with the Outstanding Achievement Award, a fitting honour for the designer who has shaped the fashion industry in countless ways. The New Establishment Womenswear Designer Award went to Marco Capaldo for 16Arlington, while Priya Ahluwalia for Ahluwalia took home the New Establishment Menswear Designer Award. Stephen Jones was celebrated as British Accessories Designer of the Year, a recognition of his unmatched talent in creating iconic pieces.

The entertainment kept the energy alive throughout the night. Debbie Harry surprised everyone with a soulful rendition of “Heart of Glass,” while Wizkid closed the evening with his hit track “Troubled Mind,” leaving the audience in awe. Even as awards were handed out, the sense of celebration and community was palpable.

Other major winners included Issa Rae who received the Pandora Leader for Change Award, Grace Wales Bonner, who was named British Menswear Designer of the Year, with her award graciously accepted on her behalf by Tems, and Chopova Lowena, who received the BFC Foundation Award, further establishing themselves as exciting new voices in the industry.

If the 2024 British Fashion Awards ceremony is anything to go by, it reasserted that the future of British fashion looks as exciting as ever, that fashion could be used as a force for change, to tell stories, and challenge norms, and that London remains at the heart of global fashion.
