KANIS and LATENIGHTJIGGY Unite for Hot New Single ‘Close Enough’

Fans can’t get enough of Kanis’s latest single, “Close Enough.” Since its release, the track has been buzzing with praise, quickly climbing Music Week’s Black Music Chart and surpassing major names like Drake, Asake, Central Cee, and Jaz Karis. Her collaboration with Trinidadian-American artist LATENIGHTJIGGY brings together Reggaeton, R&B, Hip-Hop, and an energy that resonates with listeners everywhere.

“Close Enough” marks Kanis’s return to music, and it’s evident that her growth as an artist shines through in this latest offering. Produced by the Colombian maestro Kénsel Tell Them—who has previously worked with artists like Becky G and Maikel Delacalle—the track boasts a fresh “Chopped & Screwed” sound that is both seductive and upbeat. The bilingual lyricism woven throughout the song highlights Kanis and LATENIGHTJIGGY’s cultural roots, creating an atmosphere that captivates listeners and leaves them craving more.

Reflecting on the creative process, Kanis shared, “It was really a beautiful experience to record this song in Medellín, Colombia. When Kénsel introduced me to LATENIGHTJIGGY, the energy, connection, and vision just came together. I love Chopped and Screwed music, and I felt that the fusion of it on this song really brought a unique touch. I haven’t heard much Spanish music with that vibe before, and as someone who speaks four languages, it’s fantastic to connect with more people through this music. I’m definitely looking to collaborate with more Latin artists in the future.”

LATENIGHTJIGGY echoed her sentiments, stating, “This song is fire! Making the video was so much fun. Working with Kanis has been an incredible experience; I’ve learned so much about the culture and music influences from Haiti. I’m inspired to learn even more.”

The music video, directed by Michael Russell, brings the song to life with scenes set in Little Haiti, Miami. The visuals are simple yet striking, capturing the energy of the track. As Kanis and LATENIGHTJIGGY cruise through the streets, their chemistry is unmistakable, with playful interactions that mirror the song’s lyrics about connection and attraction. Lines like “Stay true, I see how they move/you should put me on your way, just get close enough” adding to the vibe, making the video an extension of the track’s mood.

Producer Kénsel Tell Them highlighted the genres that makes “Close Enough” stand out: “This song was about creating a fresh and current sound. Working with Kanis and LATENIGHTJIGGY separately, I knew that bringing them together could result in something unique. Their cultural musical representation was inspiring, and I tried my best to combine those elements without losing their essence.”

“Close Enough” marks a milestone for Kanis, who is already known for her previous hit “No Contact,” which garnered widespread acclaim and got her a position in the UK’s Black Music Top 20 Charts. The artist has headlined prestigious events like SXSW’s Island Wave Stage 2024 and collaborated with renowned names such as Tiwa Savage and Patoranking. Her brand partnerships with PUMA, Adidas, and PrettyLittleThing further demonstrate her influence in the fashion and music industry.

And now, with the release of “Close Enough,” fans can expect even more exciting projects on the horizon.
