Love Itoya Celebrates Identity on New Afrobeat Release ‘Superpower’

Love Itoya, the London-based Greek-Nigerian singer-songwriter, releases her new Afrobeat single “Superpower” alongside an official music video, and it feels like a celebration in every sense of the word.

Upbeat, vibrant and full of energy, Superpower is rooted in identity, confidence and self-expression. It’s the kind of track that makes you move first and reflect later, depicting that owning who you are is, in itself, powerful.

The song is a collaboration between Love Itoya, her brother Life Itoya, and Canadian violinists/producers Momento. Together, they fuse infectious Afrobeats rhythms with bold violin melodies, creating a sound that feels both joyful and layered. The violin adds a striking edge to the production, giving the track depth without losing its rhythm.

There’s something special about the sibling dynamic at the heart of the project. It brings a natural chemistry to the music, an ease that translates into the final sound. The official video carries that same spirit. Colourful and expressive, it mirrors the song’s message visually, that this is about showing up fully, unapologetically, and confidently.

For Love Itoya, that message isn’t new, it’s consistent with the path she’s been carving.

An award-winning artist, she was named World Artist of the Year (2025) at the Josie Music Awards in Nashville and won the 2024 BEFFTA Award for Best UK African Artist. Based in London, she has built a reputation for her magnetic stage presence and her fearless fusion of pop, soul and Afro contemporary sounds.

She writes, co-produces and directs her own music, shaping her creative vision from start to finish. Her breakout single “Space” received GRAMMY® consideration in 2026, marking another significant milestone in her growing career.

Love has performed at BBC Introducing, London Sofar Sounds, UK Black Pride and festivals across the UK and the Balkans, steadily expanding her audience. Along the way, she’s had viral moments, including a co-sign from Ciara that have further amplified her presence in the global pop-soul space.

But beyond the accolades and performances, Superpower feels like a personal statement. It aligns with the themes Love Itoya consistently stands for: self-love, resilience and truth. This time, she delivers that message through an Afrobeat anthem that feels light on its feet but strong at its core.
