Osian-Wyn’s Journey: From Skate Parks to Capturing Fashion and Music.

Osian-Wyn, a 17-year-old college student who’s delving into the captivating world of photography and videography. His journey sprouted from a love for fashion, and Music.

His intrigue for fashion sparked early, stemming from a passion for album covers, music videos, and the fusion of clothing and music in imagery. Even with a stint attempting to skate, which ended with more falls than triumphs after trying for three years, Osian found solace in capturing the essence of skating through his lens, immersing himself in skating magazines and photographing skaters the whole summer of 2019.

From those youthful days hosting and filming himself for his YouTube channel (videos best left unearthed! Says Osian). His photographic style is a mirror of his relaxed nature, seeking to encapsulate authenticity.

Osian’s Perspective on His Photographic Approach:

Inspiration finds him in the emotions and surroundings of others, notably within Cardiff’s vibrant creative sphere.  As a Welsh speaker, his roots intertwine with his work, celebrating Welsh events and the burgeoning music scene, challenging misconceptions about Cardiff’s cultural vibrancy. Osian noted that while some individuals might not readily associate Cardiff as a thriving center for music, fashion, and culture, he emphasised the cardiff’s scene growing massively. He also mentioned that observing the diligent work ethic of his parents serves as a continuous source of inspiration, propelling him to persist and advance in his endeavors.”

Some career highlights include gracing London Fashion Week with Emkai modeling agency and landing a published photo in Gezno magazine. However, the pinnacle was his collaboration with IbyWorld, New Balance, and Cardiff City FC.

Three years ago, Osian won a tracksuit in a giveaway by Ibby, who had just launched IbyWorld. Since then, Osian has been actively involved, capturing numerous photographs and videos for the brand. Notably, his work for IbyWorld’s collaboration with New Balance and Cardiff City was featured on the Cardiff City website and Versus magazine, a significant achievement for him. Osian expresses gratitude to Ibby Abdi, the owner of IbyWorld, for the opportunities and the exciting projects they have lined up together.

Looking ahead, Osian-Wyn envisions more fashion weeks, perhaps Milan and Paris. Alongside this, he plans to capture music events in and around Cardiff, such as ‘In It Together’ in Port Talbot scheduled for May 2024. Most notably, he advises keeping the week of March 21st free, hinting at an exciting reveal. He expresses immense excitement to unveil the project he has been diligently working on but refrains from disclosing further details at this time.”

Dreams loom large for Osian-Wyn. He dreams of having his photo featured in Dazed, viewing it as a full-circle moment, evolving from drawing inspiration from their photos to having his own published. Traveling the globe to document diverse cultures, collaborating with revered brands like Supreme or Louis Vuitton, and nurturing budding photographers, he hopes to pave the way for aspiring creatives.
