Odhran Murphy Tells the Truth About Love in New Single “Lover”

“In the depths of my heart, a story untold…”

Fresh off his sold-out debut headline show at London’s Camden Assembly, Odhran Murphy is back with his most vulnerable release yet. “Lover”, the latest single from his upcoming debut EP Stuck In The Middle (dropping this July via 10K Projects), is a raw and emotionally charged track that hits in all the right places, especially if you’ve ever tried to hold on to love long after it stopped holding on to you.

From the first line, “In the depths of my heart, a story untold,” it’s clear this isn’t just another breakup song. It’s a quiet unraveling, a deeply personal look at the aftershocks of a love that’s slipped away. Acoustic and stripped-back in all the best ways, “Lover” creates space for you to breathe, remember, and maybe even cry a little. Odhran’s voice—steady but aching—delivers lines like “Fragile heart, bruised by love” and “Torn between love and pain” with a kind of honesty that doesn’t beg for pity. It just asks to be heard.

And then comes the line that really lingers: “I long for freedom, but I am scared to be alone.” That’s the magic of this song—it doesn’t try to tie things up neatly. It sits in the in-between, in the ache of not knowing what comes next, in the fear of finally letting go. It’s heartbreak that doesn’t need to shout. It’s the silence after the goodbye, the questions you never got to ask, the weight of what’s left unsaid.

Born and raised in the lush beauty of County Armagh, Northern Ireland, Odhran’s sound is soaked in the spirit of his hometown, warm, familiar, and deeply human. From learning his first guitar chords from his mum to sneaking into pubs to watch his parents and grandfather gig on weekends, music has always been woven into his life. It shows. He’s a self-taught multi-instrumentalist who learned by ear, not sheet music, and you can feel that instinctive, emotional approach in every lyric, every melody.

He’s only been officially sharing his music for a few years, but it didn’t take long for people to notice. His 2023 breakout “Limitless Love” climbed quickly through TikTok, leading to over 7.5 million streams on Spotify and a fanbase that keeps growing. Now signed to 10K Projects—home to the likes of Ice Spice, Aminé, and Artemas—Odhran is creating a lane in Country-Folk that feels both fresh and deeply rooted. His sound is exactly what he describes it to be: uplifting, emotional, fun, and perfect for a road trip.

After standout performances at The Great Escape and his recently sold-out London show, Odhran’s momentum is undeniable. He’s gearing up for Ireland Music Week and an August road trip tour, where he’ll be playing at pubs across the country—bringing his music home, quite literally.

“Lover” is just a glimpse of an artist who knows exactly how to turn pain into poetry. And if this is what Odhran Murphy sounds like before his debut EP even drops, then July can’t come soon enough.

Listen to Lovernow, and let it break your heart gently.
