The moment young dancers across Wales have been waiting for is here — National Youth Dance Wales (NYDW) has officially opened auditions for its 2026 company, and this year’s programme is bigger, bolder, and more ambitious than ever.
NYDW isn’t just another youth dance opportunity. It’s Wales’ official national youth dance company, a place where young artists from every corner of the country come together to train, create, and perform at a genuinely professional level. And for 2026, they’re raising the creative bar even higher.

This holistic approach ensures every dancer thrives in the studio and on stage.
For 2026, NYDW is building something even more ambitious. Dancers will collaborate closely with a guest choreographer, costume designers, lighting designers and film makers. Together, the company will bring to life an electrifying new piece premiered live in Wales and an original dance-on-film shot on location across Wales’ most breathtaking landscapes, areas of outstanding natural beauty and iconic heritage sites. It’s an opportunity that combines stage performance, screen dance, and deep creative exploration with some of the most exciting artistic voices in Wales.
Becoming part of NYDW means joining a colourful, supportive community of young artists who share the same passion and ambition. The company focuses on high-level technical training and imaginative exploration, helping dancers build the skills needed for careers across the dance sector.
NYDW is seeking young dancers aged 16–22 (aged 16–22 on 31 August 2026) who:
You may audition at age 15, provided you will be 16 by 31 August 2026.
If you love dance, if you want to grow, if you want to be part of Wales’ most dynamic youth dance company, NYDW wants to see you. Your moment is here. Your community is waiting. Your stage awaits.
