Elijah Woods’ Latest Single ‘Sunlight!’ and His Quest for Maturity in the Upcoming EP “Hey There Elijah”

It’s 2 AM, you’re sprawled on your bedroom floor, headphones on, staring at the ceiling. Suddenly, Elijah Woods’ voice cuts through the darkness, and you find yourself whisper-shouting, “Someone give me the sunlight!”. Trust me, I’ve been there, and Woods’ new single “Sunlight!” is that powerful.

Toronto-based multi-platinum artist and producer Elijah Woods is back in the spotlight with a new burst of energy. His upcoming EP, Hey There Elijah, set to drop on September 27th, offers an intimate look into his journey over the past few years. Alongside the EP, Elijah is excited to unveil his new single, “Sunlight!,” now streaming on all major platforms.

Hey There Elijah is a six-track project fused with nostalgic pop sounds and edgy indie-rock melodies. This EP explores themes of turning 30, navigating love, and embracing personal growth. Elijah describes it as “my quest for maturity,” reflecting a period of introspection and self-discovery.

The lead single, “Sunlight!,” gives us a preview of the EP. Its infectious energy and catchy hooks serve as the perfect backdrop for a deeper narrative around seeking clarity in times of uncertainty. The chorus—“Someone give me the sunlight / At a red light / And it’s time to shed my skin / Someone give me the sunlight / It’s been a long night / And it’s time to sink or swim oh God I know / Here I go”—captures a universal plea for hope and guidance.

Elijah’s vocals bring to life the turbulence of self-discovery, as he sings about shedding old skin and navigating long, challenging nights. With lines like “Either you can’t or you won’t / Or you’re out of control / Or you die getting old or you just don’t know what you want / What you want what you want,” he articulates the struggle to find direction when everything seems adrift.

Renowned for his irresistibly catchy melodies, vivid storytelling, and crisp production, Elijah Woods has become one of pop music’s most compelling rising solo acts. With over 200 million streams across his discography, his achievements include multiple platinum and gold records, four JUNO Award nominations, and a SOCAN 2022 Pop Award. His success has been marked by a sold-out Canadian headline tour in 2023, impressive international appearances in Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Singapore, opening for Niall Horan in Jakarta and his recent UK debut at BST Hyde Park Festival in London.

With over 4 million monthly listeners and his tracks “24/7, 365,” “fingers crossed” and “everything everywhere always” amassing over 200 million streams combined, Woods continues to captivate audiences worldwide. As Hey There Elijah approaches, fans can look forward to the last week of September for even more of the infectious energy and storytelling that have defined his career.
