There’s something quietly powerful about an artist choosing honesty over protection. For Courtney Scotto, that moment arrived with Therapy Tapes, Vol. 1 — her debut EP released on 5 January 2026, a project that feels less like a polished introduction and more like an invitation into her inner world.
Born in Cardiff and rooted in R&B and soul, Courtney has always been known for her emotional clarity and storytelling. But with Therapy Tapes, Vol. 1, she takes that openness even further. This EP lives in the space where vulnerability meets intimacy, the moment where you stop guarding your feelings and start saying exactly how you feel, even when it’s uncomfortable.
Listening to the project feels like sitting across from someone who has decided to tell the truth without flinching. Courtney explores love, softness, affection, caution, healing, and self-worth — not as abstract ideas, but as lived experiences.
“This project is what happened when I stopped protecting myself and started telling the truth. When vulnerability met intimacy, my music changed. I changed.
I’m soft, I’m emotional, I feel deeply — and I love that about myself. This EP is me choosing honesty over armour.”
Rather than treating vulnerability as weakness, Courtney embraces it as strength. Therapy Tapes, Vol. 1 becomes a safe space — for her and for the listener — to feel deeply and to sit with emotions as they are. It’s intimate without being performative and emotional without ever feeling fragile.
This release also marks a significant step in a journey that’s been building steadily over the last few years. Courtney first caught attention with her debut single “Catch It” in 2024, which received support from BBC Radio Wales and BBC Introducing. In 2025, she followed up with “I Like It”, a track that earned a spot on the BBC Welsh A-List and further cemented her place as one of Wales’ most exciting emerging R&B voices.
With Therapy Tapes, Vol. 1, that momentum turns inward, not chasing validation, but choosing authenticity. Courtney doesn’t present herself as fully healed or perfectly confident. Instead, she allows softness to exist alongside growth, and uncertainty to coexist with self-awareness. It’s this honesty that makes the EP resonate so deeply.
