UK’s R&B Future Is Now: Jorday’s New EP Before Summer Ends Is Here

If you’ve ever lived through a summer that felt like a blur of sunshine, situationships, deep thoughts and even deeper bops, then Jorday just dropped your new soundtrack. The UK’s self-proclaimed “future of R&B” (and not just by fans—Rick Ross, Young T & Bugsey, and Chip are co-signing too) is back with a brand-new 3-track EP titled Before Summer Ends, and it might be his most honest work yet.

I’ve been playing his songs on loop, and I’m still not over MIA and Loyal, but most especially his previously released single, ‘Dancer.’ Each one feels like its own little world, equal parts vibe, emotion, and movement. But the real kicker? The first track Summer Time, whose visuals just dropped and they’re a whole mood. Premiered via Complex UK, the track opens the project with warmth, reflection, and the sort of feeling you only get from a summer that’s ending too soon.

Jorday isn’t new to the game, but this project feels like a defining moment. Before Summer Ends is a tight, purposeful collection of songs that feel breezy on the surface but hold weight if you’re really listening. Whether it’s the sensual pull of “Loyal,” the dancefloor-ready energy of “M.I.A,” or the nostalgia of “Summer Time,” this EP has layers.

“This EP is a reflection of everything I’ve been sitting with over the past year — from growth and grief to joy and release,” Jorday says. “It’s raw, it’s real, and it feels like the most honest thing I’ve put out yet.”

There’s something special about hearing that level of vulnerability over beats that make you want to dance. It’s what Jorday does best — that balance of smooth and sharp, emotional and electric.

Let’s talk stats. Jorday has already opened for UK hit-makers Young T & Bugsey, dropped a headline show, racked up thousands of views on In The Air, and gained the kind of support most artists dream of: Rick Ross, Fally Ipupa, Chip, GRM Daily, BBC 1Xtra, and Capital Xtra are just a few names backing him.

And yet, he still feels like our artist — the one whose music hits hardest when you’re walking home in the heat with too much on your mind. There’s a reason fans are calling him “the future of UK R&B.” His tone is unmistakable. His presence is cool but genuine. And he’s only just getting started.

Born in the Netherlands to Congolese parents, Jorday moved to the UK when he was seven, and it’s the mix of culture that makes his sound feel so layered. He credits his musical roots to church choirs, family jam sessions, and watching legends like Michael Jackson, not just for the music but the work ethic.

“Music is in the blood,” he says — and you can tell. This isn’t someone chasing trends. Jorday’s building something long-lasting, and Before Summer Ends is proof of that. So before summer ends… press play.
