Forget the runway; On|Off transported guests to an electrifying underwater experience at Jack Irving’s London Fashion Week AW24 presentation. There were inflatable alien sculptures, a holographic AI creature, and hair designed by AI, all set against the backdrop of an abandoned power plant, making it clear why music icon, Lady Gaga endorses the brand.
In its 22nd year, On|Off continued its tradition of celebrating creativity at London Fashion Week. This season, the showcase highlights designer Jack Irving, known for his eclectic designs.
Collaborating with On|Off once again, Irving presents an AI-powered exhibition at Spitalfields E1 in the heart of London’s East End, where he reimagines the discovery of new alien species, featuring a fusion of fashion, art, and cutting-edge technology.
Models were adorned in shimmering aqua hues, their bodies morphing into otherworldly creatures and inflatable sculptures. Chrome accents glinted, reflecting the electric atmosphere, while an alluring holographic wall displayed an AI-generated alien being.
As the AI creature swirled on a spinning wall, it felt like witnessing the birth of a new life form, born from the collision of technology and nature, A reminder of the exciting future in fashion, where the lines between physical and virtual reality continue to merge.
On|Off’s Director Lee Lapthorne perfectly described the essence of the show: “I am excited to be working with Jack again and embracing cutting-edge technology, such as advanced video projection systems and holographic technology, to create an immersive experience.”
“This collaboration opens up possibilities for creative expression… within the world of fashion and art.” Lee Lapthorne said. And indeed, Irving’s show did just that. It pushed boundaries, challenged perceptions, and left us wondering what eccentric, beautiful creations await in the future of fashion.
The partnership extends to hairdresser Jack Merrick-Thirlway who teamed up with Irving to design AI-inspired hairstyles. In a collaboration Lee reported as, “having the potential to redefine creative hairstyling by blending AI’s analytical and generative capabilities with the artistic vision and expertise of top stylist Jack.”
On|Off, known for supporting innovative designers for over two decades, reaffirmed their commitment to avant-garde fashion. Through their collaboration with Jack Irving, they embraced technology, embraced the surreal, and ultimately embraced the future of fashion.
