“Our Journey Is Far From Over” OTID Entertainment

OTID Entertainment, The Entertainment company founded by Osamagbe, an ambitious young man from Nigeria who relocated to Cardiff, Wales, has become a lively platform for cultural exchange, diversity celebration, and all-around enjoyment.

His inspiring story which he has shared with KLAT, is filled with undeniable talent, unexpected encounters, and a shared vision.

Osama’s path to event production began with a simple Google search for universities offering live event production programs in the UK. Landing at the University of South Wales, he started an apprenticeship at Cytech World Communications which fueled his passion for the behind-the-scenes magic of events, from lighting and design to live sound and stage management.

However, fate had other plans. Upon arrival, noticing the lack of diversity in the student union’s music scene, Osama took action. He established the African-Caribbean Society, leading to the university’s first-ever Afro-Caribbean event. This success opened doors, leading to gigs hosting university events, and then securing a contract to promote RnB Wednesdays at Club Ice, a new venture in the area.

In 2021, driven by ambition and a vision for change, Osama founded OTID Entertainment, as a platform for like-minded individuals with a vision to break boundaries in their respective fields. What began as a student-led initiative transformed into a cultural powerhouse. He shares, “Under my leadership, OTID Entertainment has become synonymous with excellence, innovation, and inclusivity, hosting prominent acts such as LAX, Adesope (Afrobeat CNN), Spyro, Ajebo Hustlers, and Fave.”

One evening at a Cardiff Metropolitan Afro-Caribbean Society event, Osama met Samuel. A case of a stolen device then blossomed into a lasting friendship and powerful partnership, as they discovered their similar passion for promoting diversity and inclusivity through entertainment, solidifying their vision for OTID.

When asked about his proudest achievement since OTID was founded, Osama said, “My proudest achievement to date is defying the odds and accomplishing what many deemed impossible. Despite facing scepticism and discouragement from respected figures in the industry, who advised against hosting Afrobeats nights in Cardiff, I remained steadfast in my vision.

“Today, I stand at the forefront, proudly pushing the boundaries and elevating the culture to new heights.”

On a very separate timeline, Samuel was also building a career of his own, His transition from Abuja to Cardiff exposed him to a new cultural scene. Prior to OTID, he gained experience by working with event companies like Ovn Group and Ustaz Pharuk Nigeria, where he developed a well-rounded skillset in brand development, local event branding, marketing strategy, budgeting, and logistics coordination.

The partnership between Osama and Samuel, who now serves as the Head Of Project and Operations at OTID, shows the power of a common purpose. Their initial recognition of each other’s passion for promoting diversity and inclusivity laid the foundation for their successful collaboration. Together, alongside their other team members, Egoola, Mide, PlayboyKuti, CruisewithBello, Victor, Pleasure, Dani Frvr, and Femi they have created stellar events including Afrowales Ravage in January, The Christmas Charity event, Afropiano in the city, and most recently the Yxng Bane event in Circuit Cardiff that took place on Easter Sunday featuring a host of local acts including Sage Todz and Ogun.

The duo envision a future where OTID Entertainment continues to push boundaries, break barriers, and inspire positive change through the power of entertainment. They hope to collaborate with local organisations to create even more welcoming spaces, address social issues, drive positive change, and foster a sense of community and inclusivity.

“We are planning to expand our event offerings to include a wider range of cultural experiences, from music festivals to art exhibitions, comedy shows and even culinary showcases. We are excited about the future and look forward to creating unforgettable experiences that unite and uplift our community.”

When asked about what they have learned from each other through their journey, Osama said, “Sammy is good at connecting with people and maintaining relationships, I admire how he leverages his connections to make things happen.” While, in the same vein, Sammy shared, “Osamagbe has taught me valuable lessons in leadership, creativity, and community engagement. I have also learnt the importance of staying true to one’s vision while adapting to changing circumstances.”

Osama and Samuel’s journeys, individually impressive, become truly inspiring when combined. Their aim to create even more inclusive spaces where people from all backgrounds feel welcomed and empowered to share their stories and talents is something we should all aspire to.
