Khaid and Ayo Maff Release Hot New Jam, ‘ROVER’

I just played ROVER by Khaid featuring Ayo Maff and… yeah, I’m obsessed. This one is seriously addictive. From the first beat, it pulls you in with that unmistakable Afrobeats bounce, smooth, vibrant, effortlessly cool, but then you catch the lyrics and realise there’s a lot more going on beneath the surface. It’s vibe and depth rolled into one.

The hook’s been living rent-free in my head:
“I dey for backseat of my Rover, with my dealer, we dey talk about the mulla / If you get business call me, if you get wahala call God.”
I mean, tell me that isn’t gold? It’s casual, confident, and straight to the point — that no-nonsense attitude you get from someone who’s been through it, come out sharper, and is now moving with purpose. You can dance to it, but you also feel it. That’s the magic

Khaid knows exactly how to ride that line between energy and introspection. Discovered at just 17, the Lagos-born artist — real name Sulaimon Shekoni Abiola is signed to Sydney Talker’s Neville Records. Since dropping his debut single With You in 2022, he’s carved out a unique space in Nigeria’s new wave of music, combining Afrobeats with trap, alte, and alternative sounds in a way that feels fresh but also deeply rooted in where he’s from.

Now, at just 20, Khaid is more than just a rising star, he’s already proven himself with multiple hits and over 3 million monthly Spotify listeners, cosigns from platforms like COLORS, Ministry of Sound, and Mixtape Madness, and a catalogue full of range, it’s clear the world is catching on.

There’s something about how he and Ayo Maff bounce off each other that makes this collab hit even harder. Ayo’s verse is slick and full of real-life gems:
“Who said money can’t buy love?/If you get the rabba make you buy the GLE, when you get the money you go know your enemies.”

It’s the kind of songwriting that feels personal, but still speaks to everyone grinding, navigating loyalty, and who’s really in your corner once the money comes in. The chemistry between them on the track is solid, like two guys who aren’t just here to entertain but to say something while they do it.

What’s also cool is that even though ROVER has that laid-back, party-ready feel, it’s also reflective. Khaid said it himself, the song’s about how success shifts your perspective. He’s clocked how some love is real and some is just noise, and he’s using music to process all of that. It’s a reminder to stay focused on your path, trust your gut, and not let distractions mess with your direction.

It’s no surprise Khaid’s already pulling in over 3 million monthly listeners on Spotify, it’s clear people are paying attention, not just in Nigeria, and this song is a win from every angle, the production, the flow, the lyrics, the energy. If you’re about that playlist life, this one deserves a permanent spot.

Trust me, run this one back.
