“Big Dreams Take Time” Buzaga

Buzaga’s musical journey began with a bang, quite literally, on the church drums during morning devotion with his parents, He recalls, “At the age of 6, my dad gifted me a drum set, marking a defining moment in my musical journey, it heavily influenced the development of my sound and nurtured my interest in musical instruments, particularly drums, which has now progressed.” Although, his parents encouraged his drumming at church, they are still yet to fully embrace his career as a musician.

This hasn’t deterred Buzaga, who studied creative media with a focus on film and photography. His inclination towards storytelling is evident in his desire to visually complement his music, though he acknowledges limitations in fully realising this vision yet.

The 2020 Lockdown served as a turning point for his career. Collaborating with friends online, despite the challenges of remote creation, reignited his interest in music. “During lockdown, our ability to meet people was severely limited. However, platforms like Zoom aided communication, leading to diverse collaborations with multiple individuals and thereby expanding our reach. These connections helped me understand how music is created in the UK, despite facing some discord due to the limitations of lockdown and inconsistencies among collaborators.”

“Ultimately, my sound was shaped by personal reflection and a determination to forge my own path.“

Buzaga’s music blends elements of Afrobeat, Alte, and R&B, creating a new sound that he hopes would resonate with audiences worldwide.

“I see myself as a messenger, where the art becomes the message. Whether the story revolves around love, life, hard work, money, sex, pain, wealth, marriage, happiness, or endurance, I embody it before the beat even hits.“

He infuses these genres with his Yoruba roots and melodies that evoke a sense of his Nigerian heritage. His debut track, “Belema,” shows this unique fusion, and has garnered over 100k streams on multiple streaming platforms. This achievement made him realise his place in the industry and fueled his desire to further hone his craft.

Social media has been a very positive tool for Buzaga’s music, as he uses TikTok to organically promote his music through daily videos, overcoming the limitations posed by algorithms. “I don’t believe in paying to be recognised, so I promote my music solely through organic means, funded from my own pocket” This dedication to self-promotion highlights one of the challenges faced by emerging artists with limited resources.

Despite the hurdles, Buzaga’s decision to fully dedicate himself to music remains still. “There are a series of problems every artist faces, but I believe in facing them head-on, I am driven by the peace and purpose music brings me, and I finds inspiration in my mother, musical giants like Burna Boy, Wande Coal and Asa, and the knowledge that big dreams take time.“

Looking ahead, Buzaga’s most recent single, “Buss My Brain,” is now available on multiple streaming platforms, with more projects on the horizon. His ambition extends beyond personal success; as he hopes to develop more as an artist, create high-quality visuals that show his love for storytelling and eventually make a positive impact on the music industry.
