“Come Around”: The New Meg Uppington × Meela Collab You’ll Have on Repeat

Cardiff just got a fresh new sound, and it’s coming from two artists who are involved in putting the city on the map. Meg Uppington and Meela have officially dropped their first collaborative single, “Come Around,” a laid-back but sharp R&B × hip-hop record rooted in real experiences, real mistakes, and real growth.

The song unpacks the kind of relationships—romantic or friendship—where you give too much, get too little, and eventually realise, wait… I actually deserve better. It’s about karma, about people who take you for granted, and about that moment you finally step back and watch them deal with the consequences of their own behaviour. The track mixes smooth R&B vibes with a hip-hop feel, creating a sound that feels honest and modern. Both Meg and Meela bring their own style and energy, and the song highlights their chemistry and the blend of their voices.

Who’s Meg?

If you’re in Cardiff’s creative circles, you probably already know Meg Uppington. She’s a musician, producer, songwriter, and basically one of the people helping shape the city’s next generation of artists. Her sound leans into soulful R&B and thoughtful hip-hop, with projects like her EP Vulnerability showcasing her writing and production skills.

Behind the scenes, Meg is busy too—offering studio sessions to rising artists, collaborating with names like Charlie J, FruitBoy, Samantha, Eaze, Charly OT, Dontheprod, Ogun, and Ree$, and helping define what the Cardiff underground is starting to sound like. She’s also the kind of artist who uses her platform for real impact—like when she hosted her “Bring A Tin” event to support students facing food poverty.

She’s not just making music; she’s building a space for it.

Who’s Meela?

Meela is one of those artists who immediately stands out. At 20, she’s already crafting a sound that fuses dark-pop, jazz, and R&B in a way that feels intimate and atmospheric. With Kenyan-Indian and white heritage, she brings a different kind of voice—one that carries range, identity, and a little bit of theatre (she started on stage long before she started recording).

She’s already collaborated widely, performing across Wales and building a reputation for captivating live sets. Some highlights: supporting Lady Garden for an International Women’s event at Porters, her debut band show at Clwb Ifor Bach, and being selected for anthem FFWD 2025.

And she isn’t just focused on music. Meela is helping organise Gig for Gaza in January 2026 at Fuel Rock Club—an event raising money for Save the Children. Art with intention.

What’s Next?

Meg and Meela will perform “Come Around” live at Gig for Gaza next month, along with an exclusive first performance of a new collaboration coming in 2025. If this first release is anything to go by, the next one is already worth getting ready for.

“Come Around” is out now on all platforms. Two rising artists, one new direction for Cardiff, and a sound that actually feels real—no overthinking needed.
