Music in Wales is evolving, and at the heart of that change are young creatives ready to tell their stories through sound. That’s why KLAT Magazine is launching the KLAT DJ Takeover, a new mentorship and creative development programme funded by the Art Council of Wales designed to support emerging DJs who are full of energy, ideas, and passion, but may not have had the platform to shine yet.
Running from October 2025 to January 2026, the KLAT DJ Takeover will bring together six up-and-coming DJs from across Wales for three months of learning, collaboration, and performance. The programme will give participants access to professional mentorship, creative workshops, and real industry exposure all while breaking down barriers that often hold young people back from pursuing music.
This opportunity is open to young people aged 16–30 living anywhere in Wales.
We’re looking for DJs who are passionate about music, hungry to grow, and excited to connect with others, whether you’ve been mixing for years or just started experimenting in your bedroom.
KLAT DJ Takeover is especially focused on supporting individuals from underrepresented communities including those from Black and Asian backgrounds, LGBTQ+ youth, disabled and neurodivergent individuals, and people from low-income or rural areas.
But above all, we’re looking for people who love music, who are curious, and who want to learn. You don’t need to be the most experienced DJ, you just need to bring your energy and your passion.
Being part of the KLAT DJ Takeover means stepping into a creative, supportive environment that gives you the tools, knowledge, and confidence to move your music career forward.
Here’s what’s included:
And travel within Wales is fully covered. So if you’re based in Swansea, Wrexham, or a tiny town in between, we’ll make sure you can take part.

This isn’t about being perfect, it’s about being you. We want to get a sense of your personality, your music, and your story.
In your video, please tell us:
Keep it real, keep it honest — we’re not judging your production quality, just your passion.
Across Wales, there’s a new generation of DJs coming up, people full of creativity and drive, but who often lack access to resources, equipment, and industry connections. Too often, talent goes unnoticed because of where someone lives, their background, or the opportunities available to them. KLAT DJ Takeover is about changing that.
We want to create space for young people to experiment, collaborate, grow, build confidence and visibility while seeing themselves represented in the Welsh music scene.
The programme is powered by some of the best in the game, mentors and creatives who know how to guide, inspire, and challenge participants to reach new heights.
Together, this team brings authenticity, experience, and passion — ensuring every mentee gets top-quality support and real-world insight.
By the end of the programme, participants will have:
We believe that creativity thrives when people feel seen, supported, and inspired. KLAT DJ Takeover is here to make sure that happens.
So If you’ve ever dreamed of seeing people move to your mix, of feeling that rush when your track drops and the crowd goes wild — this is your moment. Don’t wait for permission. Don’t wait for perfect.
Apply now and take a chance.
