If you haven’t heard of Liam Horan-Sibley yet, you’re in for a treat! This guy is the mastermind behind 166 Events, and he’s back to shake things up in Cardiff’s nightlife. Liam is all about creating amazing musical experiences that bring people together, and his next event is set for February 1, at Jacobs Basement Cardiff from 9 PM to 3 AM.
Since launching 166 Events in April 2024, Liam has already made quite a mark. In just nine months, he’s hosted two events, made three festival appearances, done four takeovers, and even had a live-stream set. Over 2,000 groovers have hit the dance floor, and they’ve captured all the fun with 24 rolls of film and It’s clear that Liam and his team are just getting started.
“We’re back in Cardiff because the Welsh community called for us, so, mark your diaries—this one’s going to be special!” The upcoming event will feature an impressive lineup of performers and DJs, including Elise Tomas, Leon Allen, Katie Wilson, Kell Wardrop, and Bexy and Fitz, celebrating the theme of the night, ‘A Musical Journey through House and Garage.’
So, what inspired Liam to start 166 Events? It all began in a house filled with music lovers. After throwing a house party that brought in 400 people, he realised there was something special happening. “The name 166 comes from that house where it all started,” he explains.
Liam’s journey hasn’t always been easy, but he’s learned valuable lessons along the way. “The best advice I ever got was from DJ Enzo, the founder of Fuse, He told me, ‘You can’t rush greatness. You have to take your time, persevere, and be there for the long run.’” That’s something he takes to heart as he builds his brand.
At 166 Events, community is everything. Liam believes in the power of diversity and making sure everyone feels welcome. “It’s important to have people from different cultures working for you,” he says. And it shows—when you walk into a 166 event, you can feel the energy from the diverse crowd dancing and connecting.
Looking ahead, Liam has big dreams for 166. He envisions turning it into a franchise, complete with a beach club, pool club, and even a restaurant. “I want to have that club!” he says, clearly excited about what’s to come.
Liam’s journey hasn’t been without its challenges. He once traveled to Uganda for construction work and ended up contracting malaria. “I’m lucky not to be brain damaged,” he reflects. “That experience drives me to be the best version of myself because you never know what can happen.”
And while some might think of him as a party animal, Liam wants to set the record straight. “I am really not a party animal, I actually listen to a lot jazz music and house music,” he laughs. It’s clear that his love for music and community is what really motivates him.
As the date for the Cardiff event approaches, the excitement is building, and Liam hopes that through 166 events he is able to create a community united by a love for music, connection, and discovery.
