Britain’s Got Talent Eddie Brett Reimagines Single, ‘Love Sick’

If you were a fan of Britain’s Got Talent in 2012, chances are you remember the band Loveable Rogues… and yes, that includes the unforgettable, heart-melting track Love Sick. Now, over a decade later, Eddie Brett is officially releasing the song exactly as he always imagined it – and it’s worth the wait.

From humble beginnings in a Walthamstow bedroom to performing at the O2 Arena, Love Sick has had quite the journey. Written during his college days and first performed at unsigned competitions, the song became a fan-favourite, even if its original release felt a little… polished. Eddie explains:

“This isn’t nostalgia – it’s closure. Releasing Love Sick has allowed me to reimagine it the way it was always meant to be heard, and to reach back to give younger me some of the hope and excitement I feel now for the future.”

The new version is a folk-pop reimagining that keeps the soul of the original while presenting Eddie’s vision for the song in full colour. Lyrics are refreshed, swapping fleeting jokes for warmth, wit, and perspective, while the production—completely self-done—feels alive, intimate, and entirely Eddie.

But Love Sick isn’t just a throwback. Eddie’s journey from BGT finalist to solo artist has been anything but predictable. After Loveable Rogues split, he went on some wild detours—dressing as a bagel, a hamburger, and even Father Christmas, blagging a Nando’s black card, and doing voiceovers for Burberry and local timber merchants. Through it all, Eddie discovered faith, sobriety, and a renewed passion for songwriting.

“I miss people singing along, and it took some time to come to terms with losing half a million quid to a dog,” Eddie laughs, referencing the infamous BGT finale. “But I’m not chasing the past. I’m starting fresh – pretty much from scratch again – and the fact I’m excited to do so really highlights how grateful I am to have landed here.”

Today, Brett describes his sound as “confessional melodic poetry”—folk-pop storytelling laced with grit, humour, and honesty. His songs are snapshots of life’s messy beauty: highs, lows, and the moments in between. Love Sick is the perfect introduction to this new chapter—nostalgic yet forward-looking, fun yet deeply personal.

Whether you’re a longtime fan or new to Eddie Brett’s world, this reimagined Love Sick is a reminder that some songs aren’t just meant to be heard—they’re meant to be lived.
